Of the One Realm Era

This section contains minor spoilers for the series in the context of pre-history and world-building.

The new realm created by the seitarius prospered for centuries and this age was known as Kal Ekana (One Realm Era). Here humans souls engendered and accumulated chitrons of varying spin over the course of their lifetimes.

Toranic Law and rebirth

While Toranic Law did exist, the lack of torana made its impact on human lives during Kal Ekana less conspicuous. However, it was said to affect the circumstances of rebirth, wherein souls with higher net clockwise / positive spins were born into better conditions in comparison to those with net counterclockwise / negative spins. But given humanity’s tendency to focus on their current existence and material bodies—however transient in the larger scale of things—this concept was considered by many too abstract to thoroughly contemplate and apply to their daily lives.

A world without channeling

With regards to the ambient chitrons of the environment—those in the earth and its vegetation, in water and air, all remnants of the seitarius who had created these elements—it was not possible during Kal Ekana for humans to directly harness their power. Certain rare humans who displayed a higher than average attunement to their inner selves and nature were able to sense the ambient chitrons; but there were none capable of bonding to or channeling with them. Only the great beasts, as direct descendants of the seitarius themselves, were capable of such feats—including wingless flight, elemental manipulation, and healing—and their powers made them both worshipped and feared across the realms.

Rise of the seven

Even with humanity’s powers severely limited to those of their own physical and mental faculties, they thrived during Kal Ekana. Several clans were established, the most prominent being Tahamur, Chiren, Samaras, Amaratir, and Nishaki. Of these, largely due to ideological differences, new clans were born: notably Kanjallen (1), an offshoot of Nishaki; and Kiranzon (2), comprised of former members from Tahamur and Samaras. While Kiranzon maintained an amicable relationship with its parent clans, Kanjallen made no effort to do the same and disassociated entirely from Nishaki.

Together, these seven clans rose into great settlements, and some into even greater kingdoms. Between them, the seven ruled the world through centuries of peace and progress, and their reign is accounted for in the Chorus of Creation.

(2) The name was changed to Kirnos after the war.

Other factions

Several smaller clans and villages also existed during this time, most of whom were allied with one of the greater factions, including but not limited to: Tareijil of the eight-pointed star; Kazegir of the bamboo flute; Razamir of the shark fin; Virator of the closed fist; Juzon of the eight-spoked wheel; and Kastanou of the smiling skull.

Note that eight, being an auspicious number, was found often in sigils. The number resembled infinity and was thought to symbolize the infinite and indestructible nature of the soul. It was not only incorporated in sigils; both holy scriptures Chorus of Creation and Song of Salvation were written to contain eight verses of eight lines each.

Seeds of conflict

As with most things that are good and blissful in the world, the peace of Kal Ekana was not one to last. The seeds of chaos were sown when, in a single fated moment that forever altered the trajectory of the universe, a young woman from the kingdom of

This destruction, as well as the constant chitronic clashes, disturbed the seitarius from their slumber. As they stirred, the world began reacting to their movements and crumbling under their emerging power. Superquakes and tornadoes sundered the land. Tidal waves and tsunamis swallowed swathes of shoreline. Volcanoes and wildfires scalded the earth. By the end of the war and the ensuing concatenation of natural disasters, over nine-tenths of both human and beast population had perished.
