Of the Chitronic Equilibrium Principles

This section contains minor spoilers for the series in the context of magic system.

Below are select excerpts from Chitronic Particle Theory: Unraveling the Mysteries of the Universe, a foundational textbook used in chitronic education throughout Mayana and Paramos.

What is the First Principle of Chitronic Equilibrium?

The First Principle states that when a group of chitrons interact, they will transfer their energy until it is evenly spread out and each chitron is spinning in the same direction at the same speed. This principle is what dictates average chitronic spin of a soul.

A quick recap of chitronic spins.

Chitronic spins are vectors because they have two variables: direction and magnitude.

  • The direction can positive (also known as clockwise or forward) or negative (anti/counterclockwise or backward).

  • The magnitude refers to the speed at which chitrons spin, for which there is no limit.

Spins are measured in rps, that is, rotations per second.

How do chitrons with differing soul-spins interact according to the First Principle?

The interaction of chitrons with differing soul-spins causes a net effect that is either:

  • Amplification: direction stays same, magnitude increases

  • Reduction: direction stays same, magnitude decreases

  • Cancel out: direction flips, magnitude decreases

Note that the net effect her refers to that on the original chitron.

Describe the interactions and their net effects with examples.

The diagram shows some possible interactions, detailed below:

  1. Soul with 'slow' positive spin (e.g., +500 rps) experiences influx of chitrons with faster positive spin (e.g., +5,000 rps) resulting in amplification of average positive spin

  2. Soul with 'slow' negative spin (e.g., -500 rps) experiences influx of chitrons with faster negative spin (e.g., -5,000 rps) resulting in amplification of average negative spin

  3. Soul with 'fast' positive spin experiences influx of chitrons with slower positive spin resulting in reduction of average positive spin

  4. Soul with 'fast' negative spin experiences influx of chitrons with slower positive spin resulting in reduction of average negative spin

  5. Soul with 'slow' positive spin experiences influx of chitrons with fast negative spin, resulting in flip of soul-spin from positive to negative

  6. Soul with 'slow' negative spin experiences influx of chitrons with fast positive spin, resulting in flip of soul-spin from negative to positive

Note that 'faster' negative spins, while directionally greater in speed, are considered mathematically 'slower' since -100 < -1

Why does the First Principle matter?

The First Principle explains how one's soul-spin changes over the course of time as new thoughts, intentions, emotions, and actions lead to the creation of new chitrons in their soul.

It also has practical consequences in the context of external channeling, that is, channeling the ambient chitrons of a realm. These consequences are limited when channeling the ambient chitrons of one’s own realm, which are directionally the same as one's own chitrons. However, if one were to channel in a realm lower than one’s own, the channeling would carry a risk as per the First Principle.

Specifically, the ambient chitrons of the lower realm would counteract the spin of one’s own chitrons through the cancel out effect. This would decrease the average positive spin of one's own soul. Prolonged exposure to the ambient chitrons of a lower realm could reverse one's average soul-spin altogether as illustrated in example 5. This process is often referred to as corruption or tainting of a soul.

A secondary effect of a decrease or flip in average soul-spin under these circumstances is the impact this has one a human's mental and emotional state; for once their soul has been tainted, it becomes easier for a human to behave in ways that would taint it further; while becoming increasingly difficult to revert back.

For these reasons, both descension to and channeling within a realm lower than one's own is strongly discouraged.

What is the Second Principle of Chitronic Equilibrium?

The Second Principle states that souls can only exist in realms with an average chitronic spin less than or equal to their own. This principle is what dictates what dictates the function of the torana, ascension, and descension.

Why does the Second Principle of Chitronic Equilibrium matter?

The Second Principle is often equated with Toranic Law. In reality, while Toranic Law is what causes chitrons, and thus souls, to take on certain spins due to the nature of the thoughts, intentions, emotions, and actions that engendered them, it is not TEXT REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED  REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED  REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED  REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED  REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED REDACTED
